Short description of the Hitachi C10FCE2 15-Amp 10-inch Single Bevel Compound Miter Saw
The Hitachi C10FCE2 is a great choice for your first miter saw. The C10FCE2 is a compound miter saw, so it can cut miter and bevel angles at the same time. The size of the blade is 10 inches and with 15 amperes, this miter saw produces 1950 Watts of maximum cutting power.
Considering it’s price and performance, this is a great introduction-level mitre saw.
Let’s take a look at some different properties.
In the box
When you take the C10FCE2 out of the box, there is a little bit of assembling to do. Nothing to be scared of, so anyone a little bit handy will be able to assemble this miter saw and be up and running in no time.
In the box you will get the miter saw and a 10 inch 24T TCT blade, a dust bag, a pivoting flip fence, a vice assembly, a 10mm box wrench and an extension to support your wood or pipes.
What is it for?
You can use the Hitachi C10FCE2 for cutting any type of wood, e.g. hardboard, soft board, plywood, etc.
Besides wood, aluminum and pvc piping can also be cut with this saw.
The Hitachi C10FCE2 has a miter of 50 degrees both left and right. The miter has automatic stops for the most common angles, but you can adjust it to any angle with good precision.
It has a 0 to 45 degree bevel to the left side only, with indications for your typical angles such as 33.85 degrees.
Who is it for?
The Hitachi C10FCE2 miter saw is intended for the starter or the professional witch a small budget. At this price setting, this is a very good saw to obtain. Some more high end miter saws will have higher accuracy than the C10FCE2, but for a higher cost.
This is probably one of the weaker points of this saw, although it does a decent job at dust collecting, when compared to its price. One just can’t expect a high end miter saw for the price of the Hitachi C10FCE2.
And, it must be said that dust collection is a soar spot on most miter saws, so the C10FCE2 still does relatively well in this area.
The 15 amp motor on this miter saw gives plenty of power to cut through a 2×6 in one go, for example.
Also, because the blade is 10 inch, it will rotate faster than the average 12 inch miter saw, which helps in smoothly cutting through your wood.
All in all the power on this machine is more than good enough.
The precision on this saw is just fine. I haven’t found any negative comments regarding precision. There is another model (C10FCH2) with laser alignment, but I personally don’t like laser alignment, so I wouldn’t recommend spending 40 bucks extra for laser alignment.
Besides periodically checking all screws and the carbon brushes, lubrication is needed on a monthly basis for the rotary portion of the hinge and the vise assembly.
This is pretty standard for maintenance of miter saws.
several optional accessories exist for this saw:
- To effectively make the saw wider: Extension Holder and Stopper (Code No. 322710)
- Saw blade 10 in. (255mm) TCT Saw blade for wood cut (Total teeth:60) (Code No. 976472)
- Saw blade 10 in. (255mm) TCT Saw blade for aluminum cut (Totalteeth: 100) (Code No. 319658)
- Crown molding Vise Assembly (Code No. 322712) (Include Crownmolding Stopper (L))
- Crown molding Stopper (L) (Code No. 322713)
- Crown molding Stopper (R) (Code No. 322714)
The weight of the Hitachi C12FCE2 is actually quite low. It weighs in at 26lbs, which makes it one of the lighter 10 inch miter saws araound. So if you’re looking for a portable miter saw, this is your choice.
